What is reconsideration, who determinates the claim at that level and what are my chances of winning at that level? Thanks.

Reconsideration occurs after the initial level of the claim has been denied. The claimant is simply requesting "reconsideration" of the first decision on the claim. This second decision is sent to a different disability examiner for a new decision. Unfortunately, about 70-80% of the time the reconsideration decision is the same as the initial decision. The way to avoid this is to retain a representative to assist you in presenting all of the evidence necessary to Social Security to help them make an informed and educated decision on your claim.
