I have a hearing coming up for my Social Security claim. What happens during a hearing?

The hearing is somewhat informal. The only people present in the room are the judge, a secretary, you and your representative. There is a recorder that is used to tape everything that is said. Sometimes, the Administrative Law Judge has a medical doctor or vocational expert present to testify at the hearing. There is no jury and no spectators in the room. There is no attorney at the hearing representing Social Security.
