I am really upset that I received a denial of my disability claim. What should I do now?

While I know it is frustrating and overwhelming, it is not surprising that your claim was denied. This is because only about 20% or so of all initial Social Security claims are granted at the initial level. If your disability is continuing, and you have not returned to work and expect to be out of work for at least one year or more, you should file a request for reconsideration. This must be done within 60 days of the denial of the claim. You may also consider employing a professional representative to help you with your claim. Your chances for success will greatly increase.
