Reconsideration Level Follow up question 4 Years, 3 Months ago
I am 47 years old. I am eligible for and recieving $150 per week from my Union for my disability injury. Will trying to work, before a benefit award is made, hurt my chances for recieving SSA Disability Benefits at this level or any further level of the appeal process?

I do not know how your returning to work will affect the union disability benefits that you are receiving. I would recommend that you research that question in detail.

As to returning to work while a Social Security claim is pending, if you are able to work at or above SGA level (earning $860 per month or more) for six months or longer, then most likely your claim would be denied. If your limitations prevent you from working at or above SGA level, then your Social Security claim may not be affected. Please keep in mind that there are never any guarantees as to the outcome of a claim.

I would be happy to speak with you further concerning your situation. You can contact me toll free at 1-888-946-2567.
